I love picture books and Christmas is my favourite time of year so combining the two is always a good idea in my opinion. I have many festive themed picture books but thought I'd share some of my favourites.
Spot's First Christmas - My son was always mad on Spot and we rarely managed to get him to bed without reading at least two ;-) . Really, what's not to love about Spot?!

Tosca's Christmas & Pussycat's Christmas - couldn't choose between these two delightful stories by Anne Mortimer, The illustrations are just gorgeous. I have vivid memories of my daughter aged about 7 reading one of them aloud in her primary school assembly accompanied by OHP sheets of the pictures in a darkened school hall.

Night before Christmas - ok this is an obvious choice but couldn't leave it out. This is the version we've had since the children were small and we still take turns to read each verse on Christmas Eve.

Why the reindeer were chosen - if you've ever wondered why Santa is accompanied by these magnificent beasts this book will explain it. Wonderful full page illustrations.

Santa's Twin & Robot Santa - from master of the macabre Dean Koontz these are perfect for older children that think they have grown out of picture books. The rhyming stories are very funny and of course Santa triumphs in the end.

** Competition** I have a copy of Santa's Twin that I will send out to the winner of a little competition - email me with your favourite Christmas book and the answer to this question - Which festive book is set in the fictional town of Whoville?
Entries need to hit my inbox by 7p.m. tonight & then I will send the book out tomorrow. Good luck!
